Interview
What books have most influenced your life?
Green Eggs and Ham. Try new things. You just might like it.
Who are your favorite music artists?
I'm a bit all over the place with music. My IPOD has Dave Matthews, Dixie Chicks, Greenday, Nirvana, Prince, Sugarland, etc.
What are your favorite websites and why?
www.fool.com Tons of good investing info.
www.theonion.com Just funny.
www.lifetips.com ain't bad either.
Where else can people find you on the web?
www.fool.com
www.oxburypublishing.com Though, I'm not sure I'm there anymore.
www.blogsbymike.blogspot.com I really need to get back to blogging again.
What are your professional highlights?
Getting my first article published for The Motley Fool. Getting the opportunity to share investing tips.
What advice do you have for the journey of life?
Enjoy the ride. It's a quick one and you only get to go around once.
What are you most passionate about in life?
That's easy, my children. They're my entire world. Oh yeah, and the wife too.
Outside of family, I love continually learning about investing and sharing that knowledge with others.
What ticks you off?
Ignorance, arrogance, close-mindedness, but mostly all those damn twist ties they put all over children's toys. I've got kids who want to play with their new toys RIGHT NOW!
Any thoughts or ideas on living a greener life?
Lots. Start with the easy and FREE stuff. Turn off the lights when they're not needed. Same with the water. Recycle. You'll be amazed at how much less you throw away. Then, you can step up to efficient light bulbs and a programmable thermostat. Get a power strip for your electronics. You'd be amazed how much energy they use when they're "off."
What would people be surprised to know about you?
I think people are amazed by the fact that I love to write. I once had somebody say something about how I never talk, so how do I write so much. To me, they're two completely different things and I find it much easier to write.
Philosophy
My favorite quote is from Warren Buffett, the greatest investor ever. He said, "... be fearful when others are greedy and greedy when others are fearful." This is, without a doubt, the best way to ensure successful investing. However, I think it's useful throughout life. In most cases, the masses are wrong. Think for yourself and come to your own conclusions.
